The exterior may be small but the interior is warm and bright.  The owner of this property wanted to build a small non-connecting guest house in keeping with the surrounding buildings, and the interior would have to be light and warm.  The contractor along with the owner talked with us about the interior flooring and trim for the new house.  Being small demanded a  light floor.   The owner did not mind knots but wanted a distinctive grain pattern.  We suggested Long Leaf Heart Pine for the flooring, hearth strip, mantel top, closet door, door to the upstairs, and stairs (both treads and risers).  Other trims, horizontal paneling, and chair rail would be painted.
